The place
Sotogrande is where privacy, space, and understated luxury come together. Known for its world class polo clubs, championship golf courses, elegant marina, and international community, it offers a lifestyle unlike anywhere else on the Costa del Sol. Home to Valderrama and recognised as one of Europe’s premier golf destinations, Sotogrande continues to attract those seeking tranquillity, exclusivity, and a more refined way of living.
01
Sotogrande Costa, the original lowland section, gathers the largest plots and the most established villas, often on streets named after Iberian rivers. Sotogrande Alto rises into the hills around Valderrama and offers cooler air and longer views. La Reserva, the newest expansion, holds the resort's contemporary villas and the private beach club. The marina district adds a Mediterranean port-town texture without the bustle of Banús.
02
Prices here move slower than Marbella's but on a similar curve. Villas range from €2M for renovation projects to €25M+ for La Reserva's contemporary builds. Land is still available in meaningful quantities, with plots between €600,000 and €4M. The community is largely Spanish, British and Northern European, with families returning across generations.
03
Sotogrande International School, founded in 1978, anchors the resort and draws families from across the wider area. The closest hospitals are Quirónsalud Campo de Gibraltar in Palmones and the private Hospiten Estepona, both around twenty minutes away. Golf is, of course, the daily backdrop: Valderrama, Real Club de Golf Sotogrande, La Reserva, Almenara, Finca Cortesín and San Roque Club all sit inside or just outside the estate.

FAQ
Sotogrande is Spain's original private residential resort, founded in 1962 on twenty kilometres of low-density coast around Valderrama. It is quieter, greener and more spread-out than Marbella, with a community that is largely Spanish, British and Northern European and families that return across generations.
Villas range from around €2M for renovation projects to €25M+ for La Reserva's contemporary builds. Land is still available in meaningful quantities, with plots typically between €600,000 and €4M. Prices move slower than Marbella's but on a similar long-term curve.
Very. Sotogrande International School has anchored the resort since 1978 and draws families from across the wider area. Daily life is quiet, safe and centred on golf, polo, sailing and the beach, with low traffic and large plots across most of the estate.
Gibraltar Airport (GIB) is around 20 minutes by car, and Málaga–Costa del Sol Airport (AGP) is roughly 1 h 10 min east via the AP-7. Seville is reachable in around two hours.
Valderrama, Real Club de Golf Sotogrande, La Reserva, Almenara and San Roque Club all sit inside or just outside the estate, with Finca Cortesín a short drive up the coast. It is one of the densest concentrations of championship golf in Europe.
