Costa del Sol golf
Discover the best golf courses in Marbella and on the Costa del Sol in 2026, a curated guide to championship layouts, hidden mountain courses and the legendary fairways of Sotogrande, Valderrama and the Golf Valley.
A personal guide
The Costa del Sol is rightly known as the Costa del Golf. With more than seventy courses between Málaga and Sotogrande, this stretch of southern Spain offers one of the highest concentrations of championship golf in Europe, played in near-perfect light from October to June.
This guide brings together the best golf courses in Marbella in 2026 and extends along the coast to the legendary fairways of Sotogrande, the parkland classics of Benahavís and the modern designs of Estepona. From Ryder Cup history at Valderrama to the dramatic mountain holes of La Zagaleta, these are the courses that define golf on the Costa del Sol.
At LEVA Estate, many of our clients buy on or around a golf course, so this list is shaped by the courses we actually play and recommend to residents, not by tournament marketing.

Marbella sits at the heart of the Costa del Sol's Golf Valley, with championship layouts threaded between Nueva Andalucía, the Golden Mile and Sierra Blanca. Expect manicured parkland, mature umbrella pines, generous fairways and Mediterranean light that flatters every photograph.

A Robert Trent Jones Sr. design from 1968 and one of Spain's most prestigious private clubs. Las Brisas is famous for its strategic bunkering, lakes that come into play on more than half the holes and immaculate conditioning, set right in the heart of Nueva Andalucía's Golf Valley.
Designed by Javier Arana, Aloha is a long-standing favourite among Marbella residents. Wide fairways framed by mature trees, subtle elevation changes and one of the most sociable clubhouses in the Golf Valley make it a regular pick for weekly games.
Another Robert Trent Jones Sr. design and the third corner of the Golf Valley trinity with Las Brisas and Aloha. Two distinct nines wind through orange groves and mature parkland, with a recent renovation that has lifted the conditioning to among the best in Marbella.
A spectacular Dave Thomas mountain course above the Golden Mile, owned by the Marbella Club. Dramatic elevation changes, sea views from almost every hole and very few residential intrusions make this one of the most scenic rounds in the area.
A 27-hole resort course co-designed by Manuel Piñero, home to the Jack Nicklaus Golf Academy in Spain. Friendly to mid-handicappers, with three nines that can be combined in different ways, and a relaxed resort atmosphere built around its hotel and academy.

Forty-five minutes west of Marbella, Sotogrande is the spiritual home of Spanish golf. The setting is calmer, the courses are longer and the wind off the Strait of Gibraltar adds a layer of strategy you do not get further east. For serious golfers, no Costa del Sol trip is complete without at least one round here.

Regularly ranked the number one golf course in continental Europe and host of the 1997 Ryder Cup. A Robert Trent Jones Sr. masterpiece set among cork oaks, with greens that demand precision and a finishing stretch, particularly the par-five 17th, that has decided many tournaments.
The original Trent Jones design in Spain, opened in 1964 and still considered one of the purest golf experiences in Europe. Private, beautifully understated and routed through a vast cork oak forest a few hundred metres from the sea.
A modern Cabell Robinson design that has hosted the Estrella Damm N.A. Andalucía Masters and Solheim Cup qualifying. Wide, generous fairways, dramatic green complexes and a polished beach club and clubhouse make it one of the most complete golf experiences on the coast.
A 27-hole Dave Thomas design winding through hills above Sotogrande. More forgiving than Valderrama and La Reserva, with views over the Mediterranean and a relaxed resort feel that works well for shorter trips and mixed-ability groups.

Between Marbella and Sotogrande, the hills of Benahavís, Estepona and Casares hide some of the most enjoyable golf on the Costa del Sol. Fewer crowds, more dramatic scenery and, in several cases, courses that quietly rival the bigger names along the coast.

Two private courses inside Europe's most exclusive gated community. Dramatic mountain routing, panoramic sea views and conditioning maintained for a small membership. Access is limited to owners and their guests, which is part of the appeal.
Forty minutes west of Marbella and host of the 2023 Solheim Cup. A modern Cabell Robinson layout regarded as one of the best new-generation courses in Europe, paired with a five-star hotel, beach club and a wellness facility that makes it a destination in itself.
Three full courses, Flamingos, Alferini and Tramores, set around the Villa Padierna Palace Hotel. Flamingos has hosted European Tour events; Alferini is one of the longest courses in Andalusia. A natural base for a multi-day golf trip without leaving the Marbella area.
A scenic public course in the hills above Estepona with sea views from almost every tee and very fair green fees. Popular with locals for an early-morning round before the day warms up.
A short, walkable mountain course tucked into the hills above San Pedro. Not a championship layout, but a genuine local favourite for a quick nine or eighteen with friends and one of the friendliest clubhouses in the area.

One of the great pleasures of life on the Costa del Sol is being able to walk or drive a few minutes to the first tee. Nueva Andalucía's Golf Valley, La Quinta, Marbella Club Golf Resort, La Zagaleta and Sotogrande all combine some of the region's best courses with the kind of homes that make golf part of daily life rather than an occasional trip.
